The G2G Trail Guide project is intended to enhance the experience of trail users, attract new users and extend their use of the trail by connecting them with hospitality services and route planning aids.
The program includes outreach to catalogue hospitality providers and to communicate with the business community to encourage them to fully engage with trail users.
The Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail is an open, public, safe, inclusive experience that is a continuous, multi-use green space from the transportation interchange at Guelph Central Station in Guelph to the shore of Lake Huron in Goderich, Ontario.
“The G2G Rail Trail is a unique community asset in that it is an outdoor activity with minimal constraints to comply with COVID protocols. In combination with the end to end renovation in 2020 and high levels of interest through social media, it has seen vastly increased numbers of cyclists and hikers. Hundreds of new users are on the trail looking for amenities. This program will meet this need and provide exciting new opportunities for providers of everything from valet services, to food and accommodations.”Chris Lee, G2G Trail Inc.
Residents and visitors are welcome to access the parkway at any point along its 140 km length and, at no expense, to traverse as much or as little as their abilities, time and interests dictate. G2G Rail Trail is a natural, historical and culturally significant conservation corridor that supports community recreation and active transportation. It’s 400 hectares holistically promotes health and well-being and brings awareness to rural agriculture, heritage and the environment. It provides a non-motorized backbone of connectivity to adjoining natural habitat, communities and a network of trails and roads.
